
News Central is a 30 minute, student produced live news show. Anchors are selected each semester after an audition. During my four years at Central Michigan University, I served as an anchor for 5 semesters.
As a frequent anchor of News Central, I was responsible for leading the show from in front of the camera as well as writing and helping produce the rest of the show.

My Role as Anchor
Anchoring for News Central gave me the skills and knowledge to confidently join the work force.
Acquired Skills:
- Writing for broadcast
- Able to write in and around VOSOT, SOT, VO, and packages.
- Teleprompter proficiency
- Comfortability on-camera
- Able to cold read for prolonged periods of time
- Ad-libbing proficiency
- Comfortability with live productions





My Role as Reporter
As a reporter for News Central, I was faced with many challenges that were extremely rewarding. From equipment issues to reporting breaking news, my experience reporting for News Central has prepared me for the real thing.
Skills Acquired:
- Able to go live from the field
- Comfortable in setting up broadcasting equipment alone
- Concise and Extended Live Reporting
- Able to conduct live interviews
